Pleasurable pampering at The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Hong Kong

Take five at The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Hong Kong

Suite Dreams are made of these

Hong Kong is one of the world’s most pleasurably frenetic cities, whose action-packed days should end in a blissful night’s sleep. Yet, often, our all-too-busy brain refuses to stop whirring at the end of the day.

The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong has no wish to see its luxury mattresses and crisp bed linen wasted on insomniac guests too stressed to sleep, and its spa has launched a seasonal two-hour Sweet Dream Treatment to provide the perfect preparation for a good night’s rest.

Preparing for a good night’s rest? You now can, at The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong

The first step to sloughing off the day’s tensions is a hot bath containing Espa Aromatherapy Bath Oil and sea salt, which aims to improve blood circulation and remove excess water in the body. Chamomile or longan tea with red dates helps further slow down the pace.

A consultation with the therapist follows to ascertain individual preferences and problematic areas before the guest is led through a tranquil stretching and breathing routine. Lava shells provide the key to the next hour’s pleasure. The signature Lava Shell Body Treatment uses heated shells to soothe tired feet before a full-body massage with warmed Espa Aromatherapy Body Oil works to revitalise the system.

From the feet, to the body – to the face: next is a 20-minute eye and scalp massage designed to help calm the central nervous system and includes working on pressure points near the eyelid muscles.

The only drawback? After two hours of pure hedonism you’ll need to make your way back to your room; but slumber should be just minutes away.

The treatment costs HK$2,800 (RM1,515), plus 10 per cent service charge, from Monday to Thursday. A supplement of HK$400 (RM216) applies from Friday to Sunday and public holidays.

Guests are welcome to visit the spa up to 30 minutes before their appointment to use its other facilities.
