Master sommelier Yohann Jousselin on his wines
Since his arrival in Hong Kong in 2014, Asia’s sole Master Sommelier —and one of only 219 in the world —Yohann Jousselin has taken to both the city and his role at the Island Shangri-La with gusto. He was formerly the head sommelier at Robuchon au Dôme at Macau’s Grand Lisboa, and was voted the United Kingdom’s Sommelier of the Year in 2011.
The Frenchman oversees the wine lists at all of the hotel’s restaurants and bars, including the Michelin-starred Petrus, an establishment with one of the most celebrated —and extensive —wine cellars in the world. As a point of difference, says Jousselin: “one could look to varietals from countries like Switzerland and Hungary,”
For your next trip to Island Shangri-La’s Petrus, he reveals his picks for the five top wines to sample.
