Screen Presence
Global leader in television manufacture Samsung has added to its long list of innovations and media display-related accomplishments with its latest line of SUHD TVs, led by the 88-inch KS9800 (RM99,999).
The curved colossus, and its smaller brethren, is the Korean giant’s concerted attempt to make the television a proper element in the design blueprint of a living room. Where TVs are generally relegated to the walls to avoid cable clutter, the SUHD line feature uninterrupted backs – even screws are omitted – in a dark finish with tasteful horizontal pinstripes.
On the tech within the slim display body, Samsung boasts the world’s only cadmium-free display and significant updates to its proprietary smart TV service, Smart Hub. The latter integrates various forms of content e.g. broadcasted programs, Internet video streaming and gaming into one intuitive platform.
Quantum dot display, another world first, is able to express colour 64 times more than conventional television sets for unmatched vibrancy and shade accuracy. In every size except the range-topper, which ranges from 49 inches to 78 inches, Samsung has also achieved a bezel-less construction along the edges.
The Smart Control remote is another step towards Samsung cleaning up the coffee table — more space for feet and decorative reading material presumably. A universal remote, it automatically recognises all connected devices without any setup required.
