Immaculate conception
The latest explorer concept from famed Italian shipbuilders Columbus Yachts is a yacht with a difference. Less a fixed design and more a template, the scalable nature of the Columbus Tomahawk 52m allows for lengths between 40 and 100 meters to satisfy the discerning wishes of any owner.
Designer Marco Casali’s vision for the vessel recalls Palumbo’s unique shipbuilding experience and heritage, it was however conceived with technical and seakeeping qualities at the forefront of its priorities.
Ingenious packaging creates the opportunity for, among others, a 75sqm master cabin with a 180-degree view of a private terrace complete with jacuzzi, a dining area with a bar and cinema or karaoke space, and a up to 200sqm of beach area across three levels.
Among the various external configurations include the possibility of hosting an MCA compliant helipad on the top deck and aft platform which feeds directly into the open sea. The latter is able to accommodate four jet skis, a submersible and two 12m tender additions to various recreational inflatables.
A crane, which can be specified to reposition the various smaller vehicles, can double up to mount the canvas bimini to shade the beach area.
