Hublot and the Black Jaguar White Tiger Foundation

claws for concern

In Swiss horology, endangered big cats have found an aide. The Black Jaguar White Tiger Foundation is an American-Mexican charity focusing on rescuing and rehabilitating big cats – tigers, lions, jaguars – from a life of pet servitude. Hublot, of course, is the Swiss watchmaker with a penchant for creating big bangs. Together they have formed an alliance to direct attention to the shadowy practice of exotic animal breeding and trading.

For the Foundation, that takes the form of a new feline sanctuary in Mexico. Inaugurated with the assistance of Hublot, the sanctuary houses some 350 rescues, with the hope of reintroducing them into the wild. For Hublot, its contribution manifests itself on the wrist. The Hublot Black Jaguar White Tiger collection comes in three editions. In steel or ceramic (limited to 100 pieces), or in gold (limited to 50). All three feature an embossed tiger head on the dial – majestic and menacing – with subtle details of fur on the rubber strap. All living beings deserve respect. And this is a timely reminder of that.
