diving prospects
At the recent Seiko Prospex roadshow at Mid Valley Megamall, Malaysia was introduced to the new Seiko Prospex SPB071J1 (RM4854.80). Fans of diving watches would know exactly what that entails. After all, the Prospex line has been around since 1965 and has since carved out an unshakeable reputation for reliability and functionality.
Unsurprisingly, then, the SPB071J1 has everything you would expect from a diver: rated to a depth of 200 metres, uni-directional bezel, and highly readable hour markers that are coated with Seiko’s own Lumibrite lume.
It bears another Seiko hallmark, as well — the dial is subtly textured, and, upon close examination, quite captivating. Fading downwards from blue to black, it bears a wave pattern that threatens to draw the eye more than the coral reef you actually went diving to see.
Also at the launch were six other Prospex models, including The Black Series — these sport black dials and cases, of course, for those seeking a more aggressive look.
