At the base of One KL on Jalan Pinang, right beside Kuala Lumpur’s Twin Towers, is the newly opened Mosto Wine Bar & Restaurant – home to one of the most glorious Italian cold cut platters in the city. The Gran Tagliere (RM99) comes loaded with salami, Mortadella sausage, Spanish Jamon Iberico and rich, creamy strips of white salumi called lardo, made by curing pieces of fatback with rosemary until they’re soft enough to melt in your mouth.
Mosto even provides an array of assorted cheeses, sticky honey, fruit jams and warm house-made focaccia bread to round off your porcine platter. Throw in a RM13,000 bottle of their 1999 Masseto Toscana IGT from their superb wine list or a few of their devilishly strong cocktails (the Negronis are particularly potent), and you’ll have quite the party on your hands. For those with appetites that stretch a little further, the aglio olio spaghetti with crispy roast pork belly or the indulgent spit-roasted pork ribs flavoured with butter and sage should sate your cravings until you next venture into town.
