The Hublot Big Bang MECA-10 King Gold Blue is a bold display of calibre

Of the Hublot Geneva Days 2018 collection that was showcased earlier this year, the Big Bang MECA-10 King Gold Blue (RM173,900) is one of the most compelling. It shares the 45mm form factor, rubber strap and blue design elements with the ceramic version (RM93,500), but the micro-blasted 18k King Gold case is the weightier statement. The skeleton dial and blue-and-gold colour scheme looks particularly striking on the wrist.

The double-barrelled HUB1201 movement took two years to develop, and has an impressive 10-day power reserve. It is manually wound, which for this watch is quite the treat – observing the power reserve wheel slowly rotate in response to one’s fingers twisting the crown is surprisingly satisfying.
