the glory of the roman empire
Continuing a tradition that began in 2003, Graf von Faber-Castell’s Pen of the Year 2018 pays tribute to an empire whose influence stretches physically and philosophically from the 8th century BC till today – the Imperium Romanum.
Each element on the Pen of the Year 2018 references the vast Roman Empire, which stretched from Scotland to Syria at its peak, and its capital, the Eternal City of Rome. Staturario marble from Carrara – used in Roman artefacts from busts to buildings – form three banded segments on a platinum-plated barrel, while the archs of the Colosseum are engraved into the cap.
To top it off, literally, the cap is crowned with a replica of a silver coin dating back to 44 BC, depicting the head of Julius Caesar. A second pen variant – rendered in black, using Nero Marquina marble from the Vizcaya region in Spain – is also available. Both editions (from RM15,000) are available as fountain or rollerball pens, in limited quantities.
