Maki
Sushi rolls make great appetisers to share with the family and Kampachi’s popular soft shell crab rolls (RM78) make for appetite-inducing starters. If you’re not up for a crispy crustacean however, you could always opt for the restaurant’s reverse California roll (RM68), which features avocado, crab stick, cucumber and tobiko (flying fish roe).

Sukiyaki
This classic hotpot dish from Kampachi can be enjoyed all year round despite being associated as a winter delicacy. Order sukiyaki (RM96) – thinly sliced beef and an assortment of vegetables in a piping slightly sweet soy sauce-base broth – for a hearty main that can be enjoyed on its own or with a side of cold udon (RM39).
Fish
One can’t have a wholesome Japanese meal without fish and the restaurant’s grilled cod with either salt or teriyaki sauce (RM98) pairs well with a bowl of rice (RM5) and asari clam miso soup (RM22). The restaurant also offers mackerel or salmon (RM53) as worthy alternatives.

Kaki furai
These deep fried oysters in breadcrumbs (RM53) are plump and juicy, best enjoyed on its own with some fresh shredded cabbage for balance and a hint of tonkatsu sauce or mustard to spice things up.
Abekawamochi
Nutty and sweet with a savoury hint, Kampachi’s signature dessert abekawamochi (RM32) is the perfect way to end the meal. It’s simplicity, made of rice cake coated in mixed nuts, belies the restaurant’s efforts to ensure the mochi is firm yet chewy and light in the mouth, creating an incredibly pleasant sweet treat.
