Chopard’s Association With The Cannes Film Festival Capped With A Special Burlesque Performance

Chopard’s partnership with the esteemed Cannes Film Festival has been unrivalled. The 75th edition of the annual cinematic event also marks the 25th anniversary of this powerful collaboration between the Maison and the seventh art. The most impressive fruit of their labour is Chopard’s interpretation of the Palme d’Or which was unveiled in 1997 that still exists today. This year’s milestone edition of the Palme d’Or features bright pink rose quartz in place of the translucent rock crystal typically used for the award.

As is tradition, Chopard’s co-president and artistic director Caroline Scheufele, unveiled the theme of its anticipated Red-Carpet Collection: 75 Haute Joallerie to be ‘Chopard Loves Cinema’, with a prestigious dinner, set in an extravagant film studio setting. Echoing the theme, the décor for the dinner brought in a star-studded line-up of A-list celebrity attendees such as Maggie Gyllenhaal, Eva Longoria, Bella Hadid, and Mads Mikkelsen, alongside many more, to journey through the rich history of cinema starting from its roots in black and white.

The collection itself was displayed in a runway fashion show paired with matching designs by Lebanese fashion trailblazer, Elle Saab. The opening number: a standout rose-shaped brooch encrusted with pave diamonds on a black stem and leaves inspired by Charlie Chaplin’s first sound film, City Lights – a film that Scheufele refers to as a ‘decisive moment in cinema’.

Nodding again to the glitz and glamour of the new age of film at the Cannes Film Festival was a whirling dance performance piece celebrating show tunes from iconic musical comedies, followed by an exclusive concert by Seal. The British singer-songwriter serenaded the crowd with classics from his discography from Killer and his rendition of Stand by Me, to Love’s Devine and Kiss from a Rose.

The legendary Queen of Burlesque herself, Dita von Teese, also made an appearance with a dazzling burlesque performance before DJ Cassidy took over the turntables for the rest of the night.
