The Maserati Grecale GT Sweeps Into Penang Island With Robb Report Malaysia

Robb Report Malaysia’s readers in Penang recently got a closer look at Maserati’s newest kid on the block, the Grecale, which brings a supercar engine into a performance SUV. One of the Grecale’s key draws is the horsepower generated from a detuned version of the MC20 supercar’s engine. All this and more was on display at St. Jo’s, the heritage wing of one of Penang’s premier shopping centres Gurney Paragon.

The New Maserati Grecale GT takes centre stage at Gurney Paragon’s festive square.

Here at the venue’s square, the illuminated Grecale in Blue Intenso drew its fair share of casual onlookers, in part due to its shared styling cues with the phenomenal MC20. Highlights of the stylistic similarities include its grille and headlamps as well as its rear lights that pay homage to the Giorgetto Giugiaro-designed 3200GT from 1998. This particular Grecale edition also included the PrimaSerie trim with 20-inch Etere wheels, a panorama sunroof and painted callipers. Insider the cabin, full premium leather upholstery abounds, with PrimaSerie dedicated stitching of the Trident on the headrest.

Amid the full premium leather upholstery of the PrimaSerie trim, you will find dedicated stitching of the Trident on the headrest.

Just as the Grecale (named after a northeasterly Mediterranean wind) offers a refreshing take on the automotive scene, so too does its sound system: a standard 14-speaker Sonus faber in the cockpit, with the option of a 21-speaker, 1,000W setup. At this event, Sonus faber was not just found in the car, it was also represented through the all-in-one Omnia active system, with its organic architecture and wireless system among its high points, as is its innovative acoustic performance.

Sonus faber’s Omnia is a blend of Italian traditions and modern tech, with a wireless system delivering the brand’s famed Natural Sound.

Offering libation on the evening was Johnnie Walker Blue Label, with tastings of both the Blue Label as well as the King George V conducted by its whisky ambassador Daphne Tan. The evening was enlivened with members of the Northern Supercar Club, all of whom enjoyed the camaraderie, Italian-inspired canapes and conversations over all things automotive.
