Just as you make a turn into Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle, Parkroyal Collection is a sight you can’t miss. Set amidst the concrete jungle of Kuala Lumpur, it is developed in a biophilic design of gorgeous green façade—a sneak peek to the experiences it has to offer once you step into the hotel. Inspired by the effects of reconnecting with nature, Parkroyal Collection introduces the Eco-Wellness programme to welcome its guests for a multi-sensorial experience.
Its green, innovative design doesn’t stop at its exterior. As you make your way to the lobby, catch a glimpse of The Botanist Lounge and Bar that stands out with its luxuriant green bar and modern wood panelling. You will find that the greenery of its interior continues its extent.
Once checked in, I was taken on a tour of Parkroyal Collection’s Urban Farm, a rooftop garden built in the midst of a bustling city. A breathtaking view stretches across the city skyline while I was surrounded by the serene garden, giving it a Marie Antoinette secret garden-esque feel to the hotel. This is one way to put the ‘Royal’ in Parkroyal Collection. But instead of Virginia tulip poplars and chokecherry trees, the Urban Farm features more than 50 varieties of vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers that are utilised throughout the hotel, supplying the farm-to-table, farm-to-bar, and farm-to-spa experiences.
After a visit of the Urban Farm, I proceeded to the Treehouse—a beautifully lit room with an impressive marble boardroom table and floor-to-ceiling windows—to indulge in a dining experience further elevated through Parkroyal Collection’s Conscious Dining concept. An incredible driftwood centrepiece adorned the table along with fresh pots of microgreens from the Urban Farm for guests to sprinkle onto dishes for an added zing. The chef started off with an amuse bouche of Thai Miang Kham, followed by an elegant assortment of plant-based stir-fried mince with hummus, organic pumpkin soup, pan-seared sambal salmon belly with smoked aubergine, then finished with an antioxidant dessert of Pengat Pisang—a traditional dessert of bananas in sweetened coconut milk.
Paired alongside its gourmet dishes, guests can also look forward to Parkroyal Collection’s approach to Mindful Drinking. Many of its food and beverage ingredients were carefully curated from its locally sourced produce along with its Urban Farm harvests to promote healthy consumption. Cocktails and mocktails are available for you to delight in throughout the day. For a refreshing concoction, the Tropical Mint really hits the spot, especially during blazing weather conditions. Or opt for A Taste of Malaysia, a visually stunning sweet Pandan mocktail among its many other selections.
A couple of drinks in and it was time to unwind with Parkroyal Collection’s Sleep Ritual turndown service. From lemon balm to rosemary, the service includes a range of herbs harvested from the Urban Farm that you can brew a fresh pot of tea with before settling into bed. For a more fragrant tea, gently rub the herbs before brewing to bask in its therapeutic aroma. And if you like your tea sweet, you can sweeten it up with some Australian honey.
Accompanied by a scented pillow pouch—created in partnership with FLO, a Singapore brand that specialises in aromatherapy—guests are encouraged to place the pouch by the pillow to help calm the body and mind for a good night’s rest. With the smell of lavender wafting through the air, it was an easy knockout. This service will be available for those staying in COLLECTION Club Rooms and higher categories as well as Titanium and Platinum members of Pan Pacific DISCOVERY.
To fully immerse in the Eco-Wellness experience, guests can join a revitalising morning yoga session. But if you are anything like me, treat yourself to a therapeutic massage instead in the relaxing ambience of the award-winning St. Gregory spa. The soothing aromatics gathered from the Urban Farm really helps set the mood in recharging your mental and spiritual health. Despite a night of restful sleep, there is no way to escape dozing off here.
The launch of the Eco-Wellness programme also introduces a new signature scent of rosebush, lavender, green vetiver, and warm white cedarwood that will greet all who enter Parkroyal Collection hotels. The signature fragrance invites guests into a natural and instantly calming atmosphere, while leaving you with an unforgettable memory and craving for more.
“It is essential that we take time to re-centre and practice greater mindfulness,” says Cinn Tan, Chief Commercial and Marketing Officer, Pan Pacific Hotels Group. “Even small changes in our daily lives can have a big impact on our wellbeing and the environment.” And when it comes to merging luxury and sustainability, Parkroyal Collection does it like no other. “Through Parkroyal Collection’s Eco-Wellness experiences, we hope to inspire our guests to live well without compromising the environment,” Tan says.
