With its avowed mantra of changing the game of golf in Malaysia, the new Wedge Range Golf Bar & Social Club which recently opened on the first floor of Boulevard 51 in Petaling Jaya is set up to do just that. Following in the wake of its initial Desa Sri Hartamas outlet – Wedge Lounge, this new and much larger Wedge Range offers a destination to ease into the game of golf, or work down that handicap in a constantly buzzy space that also comes with a range of modern-day indoor golf hardware and software.
“We’re not just creating the ultimate destination for golf; we’re breaking the barriers that traditionally kept people away from this great game. We believe golf should be for everyone. That’s why we’ve created a future-focused facility where first-time golfers will feel as much at home as the pros. We are setting a new standard for golf entertainment in Malaysia,” says Tom Sarginson, Chief Executive Officer of Wedge.
Here at this all-in-one venue where you can channel your inner Tiger Woods or, even Tom Jones, you’ll find 13 Swing Bays with the latest ball-tracking tech from Uneekor and Inrange gameplay software. Four Premium Suites with simulators can also be converted into entertainment rooms. The largest Nicklaus Suite offers a giant-screen simulator with an ensuite, and fits up to 20 pax, while the mid-sized Palmer Suite is outfitted with a wide-screen simulator and ensuite, with a capacity for 10 guests.
Meanwhile, a full-fledged bar offers all manner of libations making it easy to drink and drive (golf balls that is). And helping you to get that handicap down and perfect your swing is PGA Pro Francois Van Zyl with hourly sessions as well as lesson packages at the Wedge Range’s PGA Teaching Academy.
All around the space, the idea of fun is configured in the hardware such as the 450 sq ft artificial putting green, electronic darts, mini ping-pong, a live music stage and 30 LED screens for live sports viewing, as well as plenty of programming such as weekly community events; team tournaments, games nights, happy hour specials and live music sessions.
The undeniable party atmosphere – and fittingly upbeat music playlist – also makes the Wedge Range an easy location for private events, parties and corporate retreats with in-house event managers to manage behind the scenes.
