Engage With The Spirituality Of Home At Wei-Ling Gallery’s Latest Dual Exhibition

As part of the WLG Incubator, Wei-Ling Gallery presents I Am A Prayer, a dual exhibition showcasing solo works by artists Lee Mok Yee and Ryan Naga. Launched in 2020, the platform was established to nurture and spotlight progressive artists who play a pivotal role in shaping Malaysian contemporary art. In this thorough selection process, both artists were chosen to work under the mentorship of Rajinder Singh for seven months. The programme was further enriched by contributions from guest mentor Anida Yoeu Ali, gallery mentor Lim-Wei-Ling, and programme coordinator Amanda Ariawan. Through each artist’s distinct mode of expression, the exhibition invites an intimate reflection on the concept of self as home—a place that exists in both tangible and imagined realms. The metaphorical title alludes to the artists’ contemplative practice, where each creation unfolds like a prayer, layered with purpose and introspection.

The exhibition is available by appointment only and will run until 23 November. To secure your slot, call +60322601106 or email siewboon@weiling-gallery.com.

Taiwan Tourism Brings The Cultural Charm Of Taiwan To Kuala Lumpur’s Public Transport

In pursuit of establishing Taiwan as the leading destination for Malaysians, the Taiwan Tourism Administration’s Kuala Lumpur Office recently launched its 2024 campaign, ‘Jom Taiwan: Ride the Adventure’, in partnership with Malaysian illustrator Book of Lai. The official launch event featured actor Jack Tan and actress Soffwany Yusoff, who shared their fond memories from their travels to Taiwan. The campaign also introduced a ‘What Type of Traveller Are You’ quiz, allowing participants a chance to win round-trip tickets, along with other exciting prizes.

This initiative transforms Kuala Lumpur’s public transportation system into an immersive journey that highlights the charm of Taiwan through four themed storytelling advertisements: food, scenic landscapes, exciting attractions, and cultural experiences. Daily commuters will be able to catch sight of these artworks on the Kuala Lumpur Monorail and at the bustling Bukit Bintang MRT station. Additionally, the tourism office has been making efforts to make Taiwan more inviting for Muslim travellers worldwide by strengthening its Muslim-friendly facilities.

“From January to May this year, over 200,000 Malaysian tourists visited Taiwan—an increase of nearly 20 per cent compared to the same period last year. We hope that this latest whimsical campaign will attract even more Malaysians to experience Taiwan’s warmth and hospitality,” said James Bu, deputy representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia.
