Oppo Unveils The Find N5 Foldable: The World’s Thinnest Foldable Smartphone With A Titanium Hinge

Oppo’s Find N5 is its thinnest foldable smartphone, weighs just 229g, and has a titanium-reinforced frame.

Oppo has officially launched its new Find N5 foldable smartphone. The global launch was recently held at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore, during which media from all over the world witnessed the company unveil the “world’s thinnest book-style foldable”. Oppo’s latest foldable device represents a big leap in foldable technology, combining ultra-slim engineering with flagship-tier performance.

Billy Zhang, Oppo’s president of overseas markets, opened the event and highlighted the company’s achievement of taking the top spot in the Southeast Asian smartphone market in 2024—shipping 16.9 million units and holding an 18 per cent market share. Oppo proceeded to showcase the Find N5’s various features and the device firsthand in its demonstration area. Visitors were particularly impressed by the phone’s exceptional durability, lightweight construction, and camera features during the hands-on sessions.

The Find N5’s standout feature is its razor-thin profile, measuring just 8.93mm when folded—it is thinner than competitors such as the Honor Magic V3 (9.2mm) and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 (12.2mm). Oppo attributes this to its Titanium Flexion Hinge, which is said to be 26 per cent slimmer and is a mechanism that’s 2.2 times stronger than previous iterations. Despite its slim profile, the device retains a robust build, surviving rigorous stress tests, including a 20kg weight load that Oppo demonstrated in a video released a week before its launch.

Underneath the hood, the Find N5 features Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, ensuring seamless multitasking between apps as well as games. It boasts an 8.12-inch main OLED display when opened, featuring a crease that is barely noticeable, as well as a 6.6-inch outer screen. Powering Oppo‘s latest foldable is a 5,600mAh battery that supports 80W wired and 50W wireless charging—a rarity in foldables.

Oppo continues its collaboration with camera experts Hasselblad. The Find N5 comes equipped with a triple-camera system: a 50MP main sensor, 50MP telephoto lens with a three times optical zoom, and 8MP ultra-wide lens. The setup promises enhanced low-light performance and AI-driven features such as Lightning Snap for burst photography.

In addition, Oppo‘s ColorOS 15 operating system, based on Android 15, introduces Google Gemini AI integration for advanced voice assistance and multitasking, though regional software variations may apply. Oppo also claims the device supports macOS integration, enabling users to remotely access their Mac computer or laptop. It does so by splitting its display into a live Mac view (top) and a touch keyboard (bottom). Oppo previously enabled cross-device file sharing via its O+ Connect feature (similar to Apple’s AirDrop feature) on its Find X8 series of smartphones.

Oppo has launched the Find N5 in two colours: Cosmic Black and Misty White. There is a third colour option, a vegan leather Dusk Purple variant, though this remains exclusive to China.
