For those with frazzled nerves, desiccated energy levels, and an increasingly short fuse, a five-day yoga retreat led by Australian stress management expert, Heidi Horne, awaits at Ambong-Ambong Langkawi. The retreat, which takes place from 29 June to 3 July 2025 within the surroundings of the luxurious hilltop rainforest resort, will lead guests on a holistic journey that opens up new pathways towards mindfulness, movement, and self-discovery.

Besides her accreditation as a registered Yoga Australia Level 3 Senior Teacher, Horne brings with her a wealth of experience as a speaker, coach, facilitator, and as the founder of the One Minute Reset App (a stress-crushing daily routine app). “I like to take people on a journey, where they feel they’re transforming and learning something,” she explains. “It’s not just about the physical—there are other elements as well, with different styles of meditation or modalities such as breathwork.”

Horne is quick to reassure anyone concerned about keeping up with her sunrise and afternoon yoga sessions that the retreat is suitable for a wide range of guests, regardless of their fitness level, flexibility, and whether they’re total beginners or experienced yoga practitioners. “There’s no ‘right’ body type for yoga. I’ve run retreats in the past where some people had never stepped on a yoga mat before,” she says. “This retreat creates the sense of a relaxing holiday, but you’re also giving yourself permission to self-care, empower personal growth, look after your body, and possibly try something new.”
Guests attending the yoga retreat can look forward to finding balance and inner peace within the nurturing, luxurious confines of Ambong-Ambong Langkawi. Accommodation ranges from Ambong Rainforest Retreat’s 11 suites, studios, and cottages to Ambong Pool Villas’ nine opulent villas, each of which come with their own private infinity pool and a view of the sparkling Andaman Sea. Nourishing meals are served at the resort’s restaurants Pegaga (a plant-based vegan café), Rimba, and Rimba Sky, while soothing post-yoga massages are administered on-site at Amaala Spa & Wellness.

The five-day itinerary includes excursions to a Langkawi night market and a local farm, Buluh & Tebing, where guests can try their hand at a farm-to-table cooking class—experiences that further encourage them to form connections with other guests and the idyllic tropical island itself. “I’d love to see people come around with a 180-degree shift, where they have a new lens that goes into their heart after a retreat,” Horne says with a smile. “Hopefully, it gives them some new tools to cope with stressful and challenging times as they go back into their busy world.”
