On a bright and early Friday morning, a row of V8s and V12s filled the dawn’s early light at Sunway Resort. Members of the Ferrari Owners’ Club Malaysia (FOCM) participating in the Port Dickson escape emerged and made a beeline for Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill, where they enjoyed the new breakfast items served by this establishment, ranging from eggs benedict and smoked salmon with scrambled eggs, to natural yoghurt with fresh berries and flaky pain au chocolate.
Pushing off, the FOCM convoy would traverse B-roads through to Seremban 2, where they then made an ascent to the plateau of Vio Banj’ran, an elevated enclave of only 40 bungalow units developed by IJM Land. These two- and three-storey bungalows are kitted out with private rooftop terraces to afford dramatic views of the surrounding mountain ranges, 146m above sea level. This development has also been awarded a provisional GreenRE Gold Certification for its sustainable features, such as rainwater harvesting, solar panels, and water-saving fittings. It sits within the master-planned Seremban 2 township that encompasses 3,800ac.
A quick coffee stop after lunch, and the convoy was then on its way to Lexis Hibiscus in Port Dickson, a marvel on the water with two Guinness World Records for the most swimming pools (643) and overwater villas (522). Here, the members enjoyed their own personal pool with views of the Straits of Malacca.
Dinner would prove to be a lively affair, with Kamotsuru sake, a 150-year-old tradition of Daiginjo passed down and becoming one of Japan’s finest, which has been served to honour world leaders. Since 1965, Kamotsuru has been a mainstay at Ginza’s popular Sukiyabasha Jiro, the latter founded by Jiro Ono, regarded as one of the greatest sushi craftsmen of the modern era. The night would end with delicious pours of Augusto Reposado, additive-free tequila that is the world’s first exclusively aged in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks, and Romeo y Julieta cigars for a night to savour.
