Dioriviera’s Pop-Up And Café Arrives On Penang’s Shores

Robb Report Malaysia readers recently explored the Dioriviera universe in Penang, which included a Café Dior and a Café Bike amidst marvellous jungle-inspired surroundings.

Every year, a series of Dioriviera pop-ups bring the capsule collection, which is a tribute to the eternal dreams of travel cultivated by Christian Dior, to life in some of the world’s most idyllic and sun-kissed settings, such as the French Riviera, Capri, and Mykonos.

The Outdoor Spaces at the Dioriviera Pop-Up

Penang can now count itself among such an illustrious list of locations. The maison brought the collection to Macalister Mansion, Penang, transforming the luxury boutique hotel into an enchanting tropical dreamscape. The pop-up opened its doors in early June and will run until 11 August 2025.

Creatures from Dior’s prints, the Toile de Jouy Sauvage, and the new Toile de Jouy Palms were reimagined using bamboo and woven rattan, adorning the mansion’s grounds. Life-sized sculptures of elephants, giraffes, and tigers, along with cacti and palm trees, also transformed the enchanting interior space, where the latest Dior creations were unveiled.

The Dioriviera Collection

On a recent Friday evening, a select group of Robb Report Malaysia readers were invited to explore the collection and to acquire curated pieces for their personal wardrobes. This included the Women’s Ready-To-Wear, Accessories, and Dior Maison collections, as well as items exclusive to Penang, such as the Nolita Origami, Women’s Mini Bags, and the Raffia Canvas with Ramage.

Guests At The Dior Café

Guests then lounged on armchairs under parasols adorned with the emblematic Toile de Jouy motifs in infinitely colourful variations at the Café Dior on the terrace. As the sun dipped down the horizon, they sipped on award-winning cocktails and mocktails specially crafted by the mixologists from Kuala Lumpur’s Soma Cocktail Bar.

An Unforgettable Dinner

The evening culminated in a private dinner featuring exquisite creations, such as Japanese Wagyu with Penang Lor Bak, by one-Michelin-starred restaurant Beta, followed by intricately crafted desserts from Nathalie Gourmet Studio.

Entrepreneur Samantha Tan Yen Yee said, “Dior is the epitome of timeless elegance for me, as their pieces truly stand the test of time. The way they transformed Macalister Mansion is truly astonishing, and this will be a beautiful experience to remember.”
