The year 2025 marks the 47th anniversary of the Sabah Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (SHAREDA), which was first established as the Sabah Housing Developers’ Association in 1978 with 15 members. Today, SHAREDA comprises more than 170 members, and was also selected by the Registrar of Societies Malaysia as the ‘Sabah Societies’ Role Model’ from a field of more than 5,000 registered societies within the state.

As of 24 May this year, a new SHAREDA Council for the 2025–2027 term has been elected, with Datuk Johnny Wong as its president. For Datuk Wong, the next two years of the elected council’s term are elegantly described as a time for “SHAREDA to move forward with a bold vision—championing green sustainability and energy”.
Its highlight event this year will, undoubtedly, be its eagerly anticipated SHAREDA Nite taking place in October, which is the association’s annual celebration attended by its members as well as the wider property development and housing industry players. This glittering gala, with an estimated attendance of more than 1,000 guests, will also be graced by dignitaries such as the Sabah Chief Minister, government officials, business associates, and industry partners.

Leading the organising committee for SHAREDA Nite 2025 is the association’s Deputy President Benny Ng, who serves as chairman on the SHAREDA Nite 2025 committee. “This year’s theme of ‘Affinity’ celebrates the profound connections that bind us—the attraction, unity, and sense of closeness shared between people, ideas, and visions,” he says. “It is through affinity that we come together to spark infinite possibilities and co-create a harmonious masterpiece—a night where every bond strengthens, and every collaboration shines.”

Come 25 October, the Grand Ballroom Magellan in Sutera Harbour Resort in Kota Kinabalu will be awash in amethyst hues, the gemstone associated with a 47th anniversary, and with guests in their finest black-tie attire.
Out in the foyer, Robb Report Malaysia continues its second consecutive year of collaboration with SHAREDA Nite via the Robb Lounge concept, a pop-up luxury oasis with partner brands such as Cortina Watch, Swiss timepiece brand and master of complications Franck Muller, Spanish high porcelain icon Lladro, cognac maison Martell, German luxury fashion label BOSS, premium Swiss cigar brand Davidoff, and Italian natural spring water brands Acqua Panna and San Pellegrino.

This year’s gala will also see SHAREDA’s perennial favourite funnyman Douglas Lim take the stage, with his incisive wit and comedic take on current events. In addition, best-dressed prizes will be awarded to the evening’s most sartorially outstanding male and female. Then, headlining the night’s entertainment is Malaysian songbird and singing sensation Jeryl Lee Pei Ling, who brings her angelic voice—one that took her all the way to triumph on Chinese reality TV singing competition The Next in 2023.

Of course, the biggest cheers will be reserved for the SHAREDA Excellence Awards 2025, with platinum and gold awards for Top and Most Valuable Developers of the year, as well as the Property Personality accolade, and a slew of category awards ranging from township masterplan to rural urbanisation laurels.
