One of the world’s leading hotel companies, IHG Hotels & Resorts, has recently announced its growing presence with the signing and debut of the first Vignette Collection brand property in Malaysia. Come 2027, the Mangala Estate Kuantan, Vignette Collections by IHG will debut as a refurbished and rebranded property.
At the signing ceremony, Bryan Chan, Vice President, Development, South East Asia & Korea, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “We’re delighted to introduce Vignette Collection into Malaysia with Mangala Estate Kuantan, Vignette Collection. By adding this outstanding property to our portfolio, we continue to grow our Luxury & Lifestyle presence in the country, reflecting our confidence in its appeal as a leading tourist destination and its attractiveness as an investment opportunity.”
“This is our first resort in Kuantan and marks IHG’s entry into Pahang. With its one-of-a-kind stay within a destination renowned for its scenic beaches and stunning waterfalls, we know that it will continue to be one of the leading hotels in the area following refurbishment and provide travellers with truly memorable stays.”
This property, which was launched as Mangala Estate Resort Kuantan, consists of 67 villas set amid a landscape of lush greenery and palm plantations. Its ecological restoration of this area has resulted in rewilding success stories of flourishing green corridors, which have allowed the return of butterflies and over 100 species of birds.
Efforts in solar energy, chemical-free landscaping and regenerative soil systems have helped the destination attract a new set of eco-conscious travellers, guests who seek the luxury of slow travel and syncing with nature’s rhythms.
Mangala Estate Resort Kuantan, which falls under the ownership of the Franky Group of Companies, sits in a unique position between the greater Klang Valley conurbation of nearly 10 million people and Kuantan, the capital of Pahang state, which attracted 2.28 million visitors last year.

Dato’ Franky Chua, Managing Director and Founder of the Franky Group of Companies, said: “We are excited to partner with IHG and introduce Mangala Estate Resort Kuantan to the Vignette Collection portfolio. Our vision for Mangala Estate has always been to offer an eco-luxury retreat that harmonises with its environment and community. IHG’s global reputation for excellence, together with Vignette Collection’s focus on individuality and purpose, makes this brand a perfect fit to share our story with a broader audience.”
As part of the Vignette Collection, the resort will feature an all-day dining restaurant and a poolside bar serving farm-to-table creations and locally inspired menus. Personalised dining experiences will be available, complementing the resort’s intimate style of hospitality. Its spa and dedicated wellness facilities are part of a larger offering for leisure seekers with two picturesque lakes for kayaking and water activities, as well as versatile meeting spaces for corporate retreats and celebrations.

The inception of Mangala Estate Kuantan, Vignette Collection, adds to the growing IHG portfolio of properties in Malaysia. Globally, there are 27 open Vignette Collection hotels and a 41-strong brand pipeline. The property adds to IHG’s expanding portfolio of Luxury & Lifestyle brands in Malaysia, which includes two open hotels—InterContinental Kuala Lumpur and Hotel Indigo Kuala Lumpur on the Park—and four pipeline properties, including Kimpton Naluria Kuala Lumpur, which will soon open.
