On a calm Sunday morning, as the rays of dawn broke through the clouds, the throaty rumble and distinct roar of Ferraris filled a layby along the Federal Highway. Their destination: a Shell petrol station that would eventually see a gathering of 108 Ferraris belonging to members of the Ferrari Owners’ Club Malaysia (FOCM). This Cavallino Rampante symphony showed up to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Shell’s ongoing partnership with team Scuderia Ferrari, the racing team of the Prancing Horse, and to celebrate FOCM Day, dedicated to the love of all things Ferrari.
At the Shell station, the FOCM members received goodies from Shell and had an introduction to the Shell Helix Ultra 0W-20, the most advanced lubricant formulation co-engineered with Ferrari’s own engineering team to deliver cleaner engine operation, more protection, power, and responsiveness.
Then, it was all power to the throttle as the entire convoy of 108 Ferraris took to the roads, headed to the magnificent residential enclave of Anyara Hills in Semenyih. This 584ac private hillside estate community comprises one-acre freehold lots, wide open spaces, and lush greenery nestled against the Titiwangsa mountain range and 130-million-year-old rainforests, among the world’s oldest.
Upon arriving, the FOCM members took a moment to soak in the sweeping views of Anyara Hills, with its rolling greens, tranquil ponds, and the presence of two magnificent horses in a nearby paddock. From there, they trooped into a giant marquee, and were welcomed by an Italian-themed platter of olive tapenade, grissini, assorted cheeses, a cold cut charcuterie, fresh grapes, dried apricots, berries, and nuts.
This leisurely setting was the ideal platform for Novartis Malaysia to present ‘Does Size Matter’, a talk show hosted by comedian Douglas Lim and consultant clinical oncologist Dr John Low of OncoCare. This segment engaged the audience on the topic of prostate cancer, followed by guests undergoing PSA screening at the nearby OncoCare booth.
Next up was the stunning debut of the Oppo Find X9 Pro, a state-of-the-art flagship smartphone supporting up to 120x Super Zoom, delivering crisp photos, natural colours, and detailed night shots, a result even more stunning when paired with its 200MP Hasselblad teleconverter lens.
Following these presentations, FOCM members were offered a personal tour of the model home at Anyara Hills, a multi-level residence commanding views of the land and the majestic mountain range. Here, FOCM members and their partners also enjoyed an olfactory walkthrough of luxury Italian perfumer Acqua di Parma’s range of sensational fragrances as well as its leather-upholstered car diffusers.
Among the many other highlights during the event were test flights by Bell Textron onboard their five-seater Bell 505 helicopter, Bang & Olufsen’s range of headphones, manicures by 176Avenue, plus a demonstration of Samsung’s new micro RGB LED television and Blueair purifiers by Hoe Huat.
Ital Auto Malaysia, the official importer and distributor of Ferrari in Malaysia, was also present with a showcase of a range of accessories for FOCM members, including its racing-inspired steering wheels, while G.H. Mumm—the official champagne partner to team Scuderia Ferrari—served refreshing flutes of bubbly to guests.
A live band added to the pre-race atmosphere, before the Las Vegas Formula 1 Grand Prix got underway on the giant screen. FOCM members were also invited to guess the winners of the race, with some amazing prizes in store. Among them were two sets of Oppo X9 Pro mobile phones, two sets of Bang & Olufsen’s Beoplay H98 premium headphones, and spectacular stays at Samujana in Koh Samui, the final shoot location for season three of The White Lotus, as well as a grand three-night stay at Chiva-Som in Hua Hin worth RM35,000.
