LaFerrari Aperta – the fastest way to go al fresco in a Prancing Pony

By Vishal Bhaskaran | January 23, 2017

Open and out

Unveiled at the Mondial de l’Automobile 2016 in Paris, Maranello’s hypercar of the decade loses its top but gains unspeakable desirability. The Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta, Italian for ‘open’, performs every bit as otherworldly as does the coupe; the same hybrid power unit combination of a 6.3-litre V12 engine with a 120 kW electric motor good for 950hp and over 900Nm.

A choice of two manually-removable lids is presented, a fabric soft top and a carbon fibre hardtop. Subtle changes performed over the bodywork and under the skin have bestowed the Aperta with an unchanged drag coefficient even when open, while special attention to wind flow management ensures aerodynamic and acoustic comfort in the cabin.

Prior to the global reveal, Ferrari confirmed that the entire 200-unit run of the LaFerrari Aperta (€1,860,000, RM8,538,666) had been spoken for, unseen, following a private event with handpicked clients.
