From RM50,000

WHAT’S INCLUDED:

  • One night full use of the Blue Mansion for 36 adults, one of Penang’s heritage jewels
  • An exclusive Nyonya Tea and Mahjong session, as seen in the movie Crazy Rich Asians
  • A private Guzheng and cocktail session
  • A 5-course gourmet dinner at Indigo, the Blue Mansion’s restaurant

Live like how the original Crazy Rich Asian of Penang – Mr Cheong Fatt Tze – would have. At least for one night. Used as a setting for the all-Asian Hollywood film Crazy Rich Asians (itself based on the best-selling novel by Singaporean author Kevin Kwan), the Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion is now giving you a chance to have full use of the building that the Chinese tycoon Cheong Fatt Tze built to live in in the late 19th century.

Be it a birthday, a celebration or just a weekend getaway, the Blue Mansion – which has won awards from UNESCO for its sensitive restoration – is a unique setting. The intense blue of the building was the result of mixing lime with natural blue dye of the indigo flower, imported all the way from India; once faded into dullness, the restoration project painstakingly replicated the technique to bring the mansion back to life.

Arrive with your party of up to 36 guests and bask in the atmosphere of this Chinese-Colonial wonder. Guests will have full use of the mansion for 24 hours, ushered into one of 18 rooms where lavish welcome gifts await. After exploring the nooks and crannies, gather together for a Nyonya Tea and mahjong session – just like in the film Crazy Rich Asians, which used the Blue Mansion as the setting for its mahjong scene. Then slip into some evening finery for sundowners to the strains of a guzheng musical performance in one of the five courtyards, before adjourning to the mansion’s restaurant Indigo for a private five-course meal curated by Executive Chef Weng. Return to your bedrooms, sated and satisfied.

At dawn, breakfast may be delivered directly to your room. Or you could slip out into the early morning tranquility of the courtyard. Either way, Champagne will be served. Then just enjoy soaking in the atmosphere that once greeted Penang’s richest man every morning, as if you (and your friends) were the star of your own Hollywood blockbuster.
