Portugal is one of Europe’s oldest countries. As a matter of fact Lisbon predates London, Paris and even Rome, the latter by four centuries. Drawing an international crowd to its baroque streets and medieval castles, Portugal also boasts the best prices for wining and dining in Western Europe. On this 12-day passage, you’ll experience sun-kissed Lisbon against the backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean, taste the sweet Port wines of Porto, and wander through the hills of the ancient Douro Valley. Your next expedition begins here:

Day 1

Arrive at Lisbon and take your private transfer to the Hotel Memmo Principe Real. Tucked away in a privileged location, this hotel has breathtaking views cross the city. Surrounded by new concept stores and restaurants, you’ll be within walking distance of Lisbon’s main sights, such as the Praҁa do Comércio.

Day 2

In the company of a local food expert, you’ll discover Lisbon’s Old Town culture and mouthwatering gastronomy. Then enjoy a sunset cruise with cocktails along the Tagus River, the longest on the Iberian Peninsula.

Day 3

Discover Sintra’s mountains and aristocratic residences the following day, then head to Qinta de Sant’Ana, a beautiful family-run estate. With its unique micro-climate of cool nights, misty mornings and hot afternoons, you’ll spend the afternoon tasting fresh white wines and elegant reds.

Day 4

Leave the city behind and venture into one of Portugal’s most rural areas, Alentejo. Along the way, stop at the stunning UNESCO World Heritage Site of Évora, dating back to 6000 BC. Your accommodation is a stunning farm estate, perfect for relaxed walks, picnics, horse rides, and more wine tasting.

Day 5

This day has been left free for you to enjoy at leisure, as you survey thousands of hectares of land in every direction. This also means majestic stargazing once night falls as Alentejo has some of clearest night skies in the world.

Day 6

Pay a visit to a historical winery which produces arguably some of the best wine in the country. After lunch, journey North to the medieval village of Marialva and check into your superior room at  Casas do Coro, one of the few pristine historical villages in Portugal.

Day 7

Cross the vineyards of Foz Coa on a thrilling 4×4 journey to Quinta da Ervamoira. Enjoy an al fresco lunch, surrounded by rocky hills and ancient water streams, overlooking hundreds of hectares of vineyards.

Day 8

Journey through the breathtaking Douro Valley on your way to the city of Porto, famous for its Port and vibrant culture. Check into your superior room at the luxurious Yeatman Hotel in the historic wine cellar district of Oporto.

Day 9

Experience Porto from three unique perspectives. Your guide and driver will spend the morning unveiling the secrets of the city, before you embark on a private cruise along the Douro River. End your day with a visit to the most famous Port producer in the world, Taylor’s.

Day 10

Explore Porto at leisure, or follow a recommended tourist trail through the city’s best attractions.

Day 11

Depart Porto and spend your final afternoon at the rustic Areias do Seixo. Focused on relaxation, each room features candles, log fires, patchwork quilts.
