Anantara Hoi An Resort’s Artist-in-Residence Programme

September 15, 2017

With heritage shop houses in an uplifting shade of royal yellow and gently curving streets lined with bougainvillea, the ancient town of Hoi An in central Vietnam lends itself naturally to art. Creative types have long been captivated by its exquisite architecture and now guests of Anantara Hoi An Resort can capture the charms of Vietnam’s “yellow city” in a watercolour creation of their own.

Anantara Hoi An’s artist-in-residence programme was launched in partnership with an acclaimed English artist Bridget March (pictured below) specialising in watercolours. The price of US$35 per hour for a two-hour class includes high quality materials, while a one-to-one diagnostic masterclass for more experienced artists costs US$55 per hour.

Taking place at Anantara’s spectacular riverside terrace, at the very entrance to Rue des Arts, the classes offer an immersive artistic experience. Rue des Arts (Phan Boi Chau Street) lies at the heart of the old French Quarter and was once a dock for ships transporting spices, silks, pepper, honey, porcelain and cotton. It is now the city’s centre for authentic arts and home to art galleries, a museum and fine crafts shop.
