Exotic mountains, lush Winelands, whale-watching paradise, and safaris roamed by big game. These are just the few images that spring to mind when one thinks of South Africa. The country’s diversity across land and culture is incredible, but can make it hard to navigate. Lightfoot Travel has come up with a 15-day itinerary to showcase the finest South Africa has to offer.
Look forward to getting sun-kissed along the gorgeous Cape Town beaches, sampling fine wines in the Winelands, whale-watching at Walker Bay, and game-viewing in the Sabi Sands. All, of course, paired with a ritzy stay.
The first few days will have you residing at the eight-key boutique Kensington Place, whence you can freely explore the many offerings of Cape Town, including the beaches, lively sidewalk cafes, acclaimed restaurants, Robben Island, without forgetting the iconic Table Mountain.
The itinerary spruces up once you head over to the Winelands. There, you will be greeted with a private Winelands tour with your own guide; enjoy visiting wineries as you drive through mountain ranges, vineyards and Cape Dutch homesteads. You’ll also get to rejuvenate your body (and rest your liver) with the legendary spa treatments at The Delaire Graff Estate & Spa.
The second week will transport you to the historic town of Hermanus, one of the best land-based whale watching destination in the world. Here you’ll stay at Birkenhead House, known for its spectacular views with private plunge pools overlooking the ocean. For the adventurous, go diving with great white sharks (in a cage, of course).
The final leg of your journey will have you take a brief flight to Sabi Sands, home to Kruger National Park, and your abode for the rest of the days, Singita Lebombo Lodge. Here, the animal kingdom beckons. The safaris will take you on game drives and game walks with skilled rangers and trackers.
