With a name like Champagne Melon Baller, living large just became easier. The star of this cocktail is no doubt the Andes melon, Japan’s summer bounty. Purveyors from all over the world clamour to get a piece of this seasonal fruit before it’s all gone by the end of August.
And one of them is Lounge Bar Prive at Palace Hotel Tokyo, a chic bar in Ginza offering stunning views and cuisine to match.
They have decided (wisely) to pair the melon with the Laurent Perrier Brut L.P. But that’s not all.
The aromatic melon is first carved out, then filled with the season’s most sought-after Japanese fruits including cherries, raspberries, blueberries, apple, and slices of white peach. These are then doused in Champagne, resulting in a fruity cocktail experience like no other. Needless to say, only limited quantities are available.
