To say mixologist Simone Caporale is accomplished is a bit of an understatement. From growing up in a tiny village on the shores of Lake Como, Caporale arrived in London on a one-way ticket to propel the Artesian at London’s Langham Hotel to the number 1 spot on the World’s 50 Best Bars list for four years in a row. And now he brings that spiritual savoir faire to the skies, teaming up with private aviation company VistaJet to create an innovative cocktail collection.

The new cocktail menu takes cues from the 1950s – the golden age of aviation – twisting the glamorous cocktails of the era into something for the modern palate. Among the eight creations available to VistaJet customers is the 50/50 Manhattan – equal parts scotch and red vermouth, with a hint of oak smoke; the Sake Blossom – Nobu sake complimenting organic black cherry and tonka bean; and the Negroni Aperitivo, mellow and slightly bitter.

Taste buds work differently at altitude, so Caporale has developed in-flight techniques to fine-tune flavour-balancing at 13,000 metres above sea level, as well as personally training all of VistaJet’s hostesses to perfect each drink in the collection. It’s just another touch that makes the cabin experience on a VistaJet journey all the more special. And to that we say, salute!
