Coupled with the car marque’s 140th anniversary, the Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek Kuala Lumpur (MBFWKL) returned to The Exchange TRX for its eighth edition, where expert craftsmanship and innovation across fashion and motor vehicles intersected on the runway once again.

“As Mercedes-Benz celebrates 140 Years of Innovation, Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek Kuala Lumpur is a natural platform to celebrate what it means to lead with vision. ‘Welcome to Couture. Welcome to Beyond.’ captures where our brand is today, moving confidently into a new chapter while remaining deeply rooted in the craftsmanship, heritage, and pioneering spirit that have shaped our journey,” explained Martin Schulz, CEO & President of Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia.

Under the theme “Welcome to Couture. Welcome to Beyond”, a total of 19 established and up-and-coming talents from Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia were featured on stage. Established names such as Justin Yap, Dickson Lim, and Celest Thoi made a return, alongside emerging labels such as JOYCE COUTURE, Ethereal by Amni S, and ROMANCE 1314, making their MBFWKL debut.

Complementing this year’s fashion showcase was the unveiling of the new Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series (from RM2,250,000). The two-seat roadster is the first fully open-top Maybach, featuring two-tone paintwork in obsidian black metallic over garnet red or opalite white. Its obsidian black bonnet incorporates the Maybach monogram pattern in graphite grey across its hand-sanded finish, complete with the iconic upright Mercedes star and signature MAYBACH lettering on its chrome-finished radiator grille. Inside, white nappa leather covers its seats, with a floral design adorning the seat upholstery, allowing for utmost comfort without sacrificing style. The car is capable of producing 576bhp and 800Nm of torque, going from 0-100km/hr in 4.1 seconds.

As its eighth edition drew to a close, Schulz reasserted the car marque’s commitment to highlighting fashion and design. “We truly believe that design is a very, very important aspect, especially with Mercedes-Benz. We look back at many of our iconic designs that endure even today, and we see the connecting elements of lifestyle, fashion, and art. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is yet another platform for us to connect those elements and to create Mercedes-Benz moments for our customers and fans.”
