Following a 15-year search by Balenciaga’s archivists, culminating in the rediscovery of a forgotten perfume bottle from 1947—Le Dix—the house unveils a collection of 10 fragrances that pay tribute to its patrimony and origins. Le Dix, the house’s first perfume, was created by Cristóbal Balenciaga nearly 80 years ago. Scanned to match every detail, this original flacon is faithfully reproduced with the new collection, distinguished by a glass globular cap and hand-tied ribbon. The 10 flacons are also encased in packaging etched with the patina of age, deliberately added to evoke a time-lapse of history, lending character to a range defined by the dualities of now and way back when.

The fragrance box further revives the original design of Le Dix, its historic logotype resurfacing on the exterior and nestled within Balenciaga’s signature industrial-grey packaging, made, sealed and packaged in France. Across the collection, colours deepen along a gradually intensifying spectrum—from luminous clarity to smoke-tinted facets—culminating in an opaque, obsidian finale. Each composition interprets a different facet of Balenciaga’s spirit—each conceived as autonomous statements, but unified by the same sculptural bottle and by a shared philosophy of radical elegance.

The new collection features 10 fragrances, inspired by the house’s past and patrimony.

The lineup begins with No Comment, a resinous woody scent sharpened by flashes of greenery, conceived as an unspoken declaration of confidence. Getaria channels the founder’s coastal birthplace, clashing salty citrus freshness with sun-heated marine warmth. Twenty Four Seven offers a comforting cocoon of vanilla, amber and musks—an antidote to the pace of modern life—while To Be Confirmed captures the fleeting moment of a blooming flower through a delicate kimono-tulip accord.

Deeper in translucence, Muscara explores sensual tension with ambrette seed and lacquered iris facets, and Le Dix itself returns as a respectful yet revitalised reconstruction of the 1947 original, enriched with iris, violet leaf and incense. The audacious 100% stages an operatic rose composition pierced by metallic notes, whereas Extra delivers an electric burst of pink and black pepper with leathery undertones. Cristóbal, inspired by the founder, pairs Assafi oud with patchouli and oak moss for a quietly commanding presence. Completing the series, Incense Perfumum distils sacred resins and cedarwood into a jet-black elixir that serves as the spiritual anchor of the collection.
