These New Hublot Spirit Of Big Bang Watches Come With Intense Colour, And An Exclusive Customisation Experience
With four new intensely colour ceramic options and one in black sapphire, the new Hublot Spirit of Big Bang line-up also comes with additional bezel and strap options to suit the discerning collector.
It does not get much more Hublot than this—an audacious case design, vibrant and exotic materials, and a high horology in-house movement. This year marks the 20th year of the Big Bang, the brand’s most iconic model, and as the year-end approaches, the tonneau-shaped Spirit of Big Bang sub-line has received a quintet of stunning new executions.
As ever, tonneau watches have an extra air of pizzazz to them—something about the way their elongated shape seems to take up the most amount of wrist space is an ideal partner to Hublot’s larger-than-life aesthetics. The brand has long been at the forefront of materials innovation, too, especially when it comes to ceramics, which are notoriously difficult to colour. Four of the new watches have ceramic cases measuring 42mm across, in a choice of red, yellow, sky blue, or black.
Inside is the manufacture movement HUB6020, a manually wound, skeletonised tourbillon calibre with an impressive five days of power reserve. The dial is clear sapphire, showing it off to maximum effect, with a scaffolding-like set of straight bridges cutting through it with edgy triangles and modern composition. The openness of its construction means the coloured time and power reserve indicators seem to float like an overlay, while components such as the mainspring barrel and rotating tourbillon cage seem to be suspended within. The fifth release is a little more special, having been outfitted with a black sapphire case.
These Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon 5-Day Power Reserve (RM433,400 for the ceramic models and RM674,100 for the black sapphire model) are limited to 20 pieces each, and are also part of something never-before-seen from Hublot—the brand’s first customisation experience. Each of the four ceramic models will be privately showcased to Hublot collectors at one of the brand’s boutiques, and the buyer will be able to select an additional bezel and strap, helping to make the timepiece truly their own. Colour will be one obvious factor, but the bezel options include choices of carbon and ceramic, as well as with or without stone-setting.

“The Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon 5-Day Power Reserve has a special place in the hearts of our collectors,” said Hublot CEO, Julien Tornare, in a statement. “The tonneau format is rarely a first acquisition. It requires a certain amount of watchmaking experience, which we are taking a step further today with these coloured ceramic variants. It’s a very demanding technology, and only we have the necessary expertise to be able to offer it in so many colours. Combined with our five-day power reserve tourbillon, these new Spirit of Big Bang timepieces have become more unique and different than ever.”
