Ulysse Nardin’s Classic Dual Time Enamel Boutique (RM57,500) is a stunning tribute to exquisite Grand Feu hand-finishing techniques. Eternally beautiful, the eggshell Grand Feu enamel dial is the delicate result of artisans at the timekeeper’s in-house and famed dial specialists Donze Cadrans. To achieve this subtle, magical feeling of depth on the enamel dial, a composition of silica, soda and red lead are mixed with disparate elements.

The Grand Feu technique applies oxides on the dial before it is then moved into fire – with temperatures rising to 900 degrees Celsius. Several rounds of firings are required to enable motifs and colours to gradually appear – a much more arduous process than the customary method of the artisan applying enamel directly onto the dial using a goose quill. As the name suggest, this automatic offering — limited to 99 pieces in 42mm stainless steel — is available exclusively at the Ulysse Nardin’s dedicated points of sale, which consist of The Hour Glass boutiques here in Malaysia.
