The Ritz-Carlton’s 794-Foot Cruise Ship Is Heading to Alaska in 2027

"Luminara" will head over to Asia, too.

By Nicole Hoey | March 09, 2026

The Ritz-Carlton’s luxe cruise liner already has its eyes set on 2027.

The hotelier’s 794-foot Luminara, which we hopped aboard last year, is heading to both Asia and Alaska on its recently debuted itineraries for 2027. The brand is offering up 15 adventures to the Land of the Midnight Sun, four journeys across the Pacific, and two transcontinental voyages that give you the chance to traverse both spots in one go.

No matter which journey you fancy, you can expect to explore some more remote areas—as well as the famed destinations, too. Kicking things off with Alaska, you’ll get to take in the stunning sights across Vancouver, British Columbia, and Whittier with Luminara as your home base. The seven-to-nine-night adventures can include cruises in the Inside Passage, where you can catch a glimpse of glaciers, densely forested shores, and more stunning scenery across the more than 500-mile stretch. For even more face time with a glacier or two, some trips will cruise through the Tracy Arm Fjord (with private flights available to get an even closer look); others will take you to more secluded harbours, such as Wrangell and Klawock, during bear season and the salmon run for the ultimate wildlife viewing experience.

Asia, meanwhile, will take you on a journey through a bevy of ports, including spots in Seoul, Tianjin (with Beijing and the Great Wall nearby), Otaru, Akita, and more. A 10-night jaunt from Tokyo to Seoul, for example, will give you a glimpse of Mount Fuji and seaside temples, as well as time to explore Beijing’s Forbidden City during a two-day stay. Other experiences on offer include time spent in Osaka’s beloved foodie district, Dotonbori, and a chance to explore UNESCO World Heritage sites.

“Our Summer 2027 season on Luminara reflects our continued focus on immersive exploration by sea, pairing expanded Alaska voyages and new ports of call across Asia with the comfort of ultra-luxury accommodations and personalised service,” said Ernesto Fara, CEO and president of the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, in a press statement. “These new voyages are thoughtfully designed to invite guests to experience and connect with both remarkably distinct regions in a way that feels seamless and enriching.”

Luminara is the most recent vessel to join the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, making up a neat trio alongside its sisterships Evrima and Ilma. The newest cruise liner just hit the seas this past July and offers up a slew of spacious suites (226, to be exact), each with its own private terrace. Elsewhere onboard, you’ll find a Ritz-Carlton Spa, a marina with direct access to the sea, plenty of swimming pools, and world-class dining.

Of course, the Ritz-Carlton isn’t the only hotelier with seafaring on the mind (though it’s the only one with vessels in the water right now). More and more high-end brands are debuting their own elevated cruise ships that bring their white-collar service to the ocean blue, such as the ones launching from Four Seasons, Aman, and Orient Express. And with both the Four Seasons’s and Orient Express’s vessels set to debut this year, they’ll be joining Luminara on the seas soon enough.
