Festive Getaway

Celebrate the holiday season at Cameron Highlands Resort

Back in 1967 when American Jim Thompson vanished in Cameron Highlands, he probably was none the wiser that the lingering intrigue behind his disappearance would, several decades on, lead to a mystery walk organized by Cameron Highlands Resort, an exquisite mock Tudor 56-room property facing an 18-hole golf course.

December is an opportune time to visit the mist-capped highlands as the resort bustles with excitement and festivities of the holiday season, including the property’s annual Christmas tree lights. The chefs at the Dining Room with its international menu and the steamboat restaurant Gonbei have paid special attention to their seasonal menus, serving up both colonial-inspired dishes as well as their tasty hot pots, perfect for cold weather.

Spa lovers may also check out the resort’s Spa Village, whose menu is centred on the local produce – tea and strawberries – which grow abundantly in the region’s semi-temperate climate. Other activities include a tour of the Boh Tea Plantations, followed by a delicious picnic spread on the picturesque and well-manicured green slopes.

In the evenings, retreat to the resort’s elegant Highlands Bar to nurse an after dinner whisky or play a game of snooker as the resident pianist and his well-chosen repertoire of tunes delights and relaxes guests.
