The Recent Hong Leong Priority Evening In Penang Showcased Automotive Excellence And Scintillating Jewellery

Maserati’s GranTurismo Modena goes from relaxed driving to commanding dynamism in an instant.

Hong Leong Bank (HLB), with its illustrious 120-year heritage, recently hosted its clients to a day filled with glamourous programming in collaboration with Robb Report Malaysia. At its newly restored and reimagined landmark No 1 Light Street branch in Penang, HLB welcomed guests to this new landmark along the historic strip of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, facing Fort Cornwallis, the oldest colonial-era building on the island.

Starting from 3pm, HLB Priority clients who had expressed their interest were offered a test drive of three current models within Italian marque Maserati’s line-up. Naza Italia, the sole and authorised dealer for Maserati in Malaysia, presented the Grecale GT2.0 SUV, with its maximised, best-in-class cabin space; the Levante GT3.0 V8, capable of 302km/h max speed; and the GranTurismo Modena, a twin turbo 3.0l V6 sportscar, making the century sprint at 3.9 seconds and offering that iconic Maserati growl.

As the sun sank into the horizon, guests began arriving for the evening portion. The invited HLB Priority clients were ushered into HLB’s iconic heritage building at an upper floor beautifully restored with art pieces, pendant lights and plush furniture. Here, in this charming double volume atrium space, they were welcomed by HLB’s head of wealth Malaysia, Tay Choon Wei, and regaled by the artistry of home-grown jewellery brand Amee Philips, which has spread its wings to neighbouring Singapore.

Gina Philips, the second generation to helm Amee Philips, was in attendance to introduce the awe-inspiriting masterpieces of the brand’s high jewellery collection, composed of unheated Brazilian Paraiba tourmalines (one of which weighed in at 90.09 carats), vibrant green tsavorites, and marquise-cut emeralds, and also demonstrated the patented, award-winning V-clip from the AMEE collection.

The evening carried into the night with guests enjoying the Peranakan-themed culinary spread by Kota Dine, the café at HLB Light Street run by Kota Bistro, which has been listed as a Michelin Bib Gourmand establishment for three consecutive years.
