Coded treasures
The Millionaire Silver Safe by Portuguese luxury furniture company Boca do Lobo isn’t a piece to be tucked in an obscure corner at the back of a storage room. In fact, it’s more likely to take centre stage in a room of curated art pieces.
Constructed in mahogany, before being coated in brass, the safe stands out with its wheel and cranks, dipped in gold. With dents and chips deliberately sculpted to mimic a concrete wall, the safe looks like a prized possession ripped out of a millionaire’s basement. And quite possibly so. At 1.51m, the safe can store just about any prize matter from timepieces and cigars to jewellery and whiskies.
A code combination is needed to turn its brass handles and silver-plated wheels, making locks and keys redundant. As the safe door turns and unlocks — it’ll require some effort to open, as it weighs 268kg — it reveals a clean brass interior, with the upper half lined with a quilted pattern. Storage lockers on the lower half operate using a separate locking system.
