Royal Selangor’s new spring collection
Spring is the season of beginnings, when the world emerges from winter and begins anew. In the spirit of the season, Royal Selangor’s new spring 2016 collection also celebrates beginnings of a specific kind.
For the start of a new life together, there is Promessa, Italian for promise. Drawing inspiration from floral lace motifs traditionally associated with bridal gowns, the collection is dedicated to newlyweds, just as the bride and groom are dedicated to each other. Consisting of a photoframe, ring box, cake knife, cake server, document holder, photo album and champagne flutes, the handsome collection is a triumph of detail and a celebration of love.
When a newborn arrives, there is Wonderyears, a wonderfully whimsical collection dedicated to classic children tales and nursery rhymes. The Moo Light lamp illuminates the ‘Hey diddle diddle’ jingle, as the cow jumps over the moon. The custom of ‘counting sheep to go to sleep’ doubles as a coinbox, while woodland creatures play tug-of-war atop a document holder. Humpty Dumpty is immortalised as an egg cup, guarded by ‘all the king’s men’, with a mug, spoon and crib medallion rounding out the collection.
Celebrate or dedicate a housewarming with So, a collection of serving-ware depicting in sleek, minimal lines and accented by a hammered, dimpled finish that are nods to organic forms. So consists of a tray, tumbler, salt & pepper shakes and two lidded containers. For a more artistic finish, the Crystalline range – a jug, tealights, salt & pepper shakers, candlestand, bud vase and candelabrum – uses the geometric facets of a crystal as the basis for its inspiration. Designed by Australian designer Jarrod Lim, the latticed angles of the collection are bold, beautiful and bright.
