Snow Leopard vodka brings an ecological edge to its super-smooth finish
The idea of between 3,500 and 7,000 snow leopards remaining in the wild spurred Stephen Sparrow to create a vodka of the same name. Sparrow’s philanthropic vision, plus an expertise in the drinks business, realised Snow Leopard (RM280), the world’s first ethical vodka where 15 per cent of profits are donated to conservation projects for the snow leopard in Mongolia, China, India and Kyrgzstan.
Spelt grain – the oldest and purest grain which traces its roots to Julius Caesar’s granaries – are grown pesticide-free and rich in nutrients. This grain, worth five times more than other commercial equivalent, is six times distilled at Snow Leopard’s Polish facility using water drawn from an artisan well. It is then twice filtered over charcoal for an ultra-smooth and clean floral finish, with a luxuriant body of vanilla, pepper and nut.
Since its inception a decade ago, Snow Leopard vodka has been present at London Fashion Week, the British royal family’s galas and has been awarded with gold medals in multiple beverage and spirit competitions. More importantly, it has generated over USD100,000 for snow leopard conservation, an important step towards realising its annual aim of 150,000 cases. This amount would equate to a USD1 million a year contribution in its quest to remove the snow leopard from the endangered list within a generation.
