an inland tri-umph
Often overlooked in favour of the beach, Sri Lanka’s lush interior offers some of the South Asian country’s most breath-taking scenery. Promising to lure luxury travellers inland, Tri is a 6-acre resort on the shores of Koggala Lake, roughly 5 miles from the southern coast. Eleven suites and villas with glass walls and local jakwood terraces are nestled like modern aeries among the cashew trees, where blue-tailed bee-eaters and dozens of other bird and butterfly species parade by in a fluttering rainbow. A traditional white-sailed dhoni ferries guests to the lake’s eight isles. Respite also awaits at the 70-foot-long pool cantilevered over the lake.
