Introducing the No. 1 Twist Chamomile and No. 1 Twist Violet
You can tell a lot about intent from packaging. The two new fragrances – No. 1 Twist Chamomile and No. 1 Twist Violet – from British luxury perfumer Clive Christian, come in matte gold bottles, topped with a crown-shaped stopper decorated with fleur-de-lis. The body bears only the crest of Clive Christian and the name of the scent. The design deliberately evokes the feel of a luxury apothecary from the Victorian-era, providing inimitable perfumes for aristocratic ladies to dab on their necks before balls and soirees. You can tell a lot about intent from packaging, and the intent here is utmost sophistication.
Inside the flacon is also sophistication, bottled. Both fragrances are floral, to suit the summer months. Twist Chamomile stays traditionally British, spotlighting the delicate notes of English Chamomile, paired with citrus, pimento, nutmeg and lime. The heart develops other complementary floral notes of ylang-ylang, rose and jasmine that give way to a warm base of sandalwood and vetiver. Twist Violet travels east, centred around the Egyptian Violet. Grown in the shade of palm trees to protect its petals, the violet is accompanied by plum and fruity notes, giving way to middle notes of rose, jasmine and powdered orris and a base of gathered cedar, vanilla and sandalwood.
Both scents are priced at £495 (RM2,565) for 50ml pure parfums.
