Floored by Moooi’s carpets

The purpose of even the most exquisite carpets has usually been in a supporting role – to be admired, certainly, but not to detract from the eye-level focuses of the room. Moooi, the Dutch interiors company, has dramatically changed that view. Following the unveiling last year of its new company, Moooi Carpets, at Milan’s Il Salone del Mobile, it now presents the 2016 collection of its special, high-definition, ‘photo-realistic prints’.

The Signature collection (in a mix of broadloom, rectangular and circular carpets) includes designs by Moooi co-founder Marcel Wanders such as Fools Paradise, a cornucopia of flowers, and Delft Blue Plate, which puts a different spin on the famous Dutch pottery. More florals are found in the pastel Couture Rose Fuchsia rug by Tricia Guild and Christian La Croix’s Malmaison Aquamarine. Quirky contributions come in the shape of David Nicolas’ Dreamstatic and Klaus Haapaniemi’s Polar Byzantine Chapter 5 carpets.

Thanks to Moooi’s multi-million-euro machine, multi-colour designs can be produced with extreme precision and in high definition. In addition to the above collection is the quieter Moooi Works collection, and, also, endless possibilities for customised prints, including those designed by the client.
