Malaysian pewter house Royal Selangor has dabbled with the Force before, enshrining Star Wars icons in pewter (not carbonite). For the upcoming release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Royal Selangor has obliged with a new series of pewter figurines depicting the characters of the first standalone Star Wars film.
Based on a tale set between the Episode III and Episode IV on how plans for the Death Star were stolen by heroic rebels, this collaboration with The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia showcases Chirrut Îmwe, the blind warrior monk (played by the awesome Donnie Yen) and Baze Malbus, his hard-bitten soldier friend. Portrayed in a fighting stance, Chirrut’s tense expression and true-to-movie costume details is perfectly captured. Baze’s gung-ho approach to combat is freeze-framed in a meticulously sculpted figurine in mid-run, ready to fire at a moment’s notice. Additional pieces spotlight other characters from the new Star Wars universe, including the cuddly BB-8, Death Troopers and the hapless Captain Phasma in a mug.
