Smoke alarm
German safe-maker Döttling’s flagship model is known as The Fortress – a massive monolith that keeps gems, watches and anything of utmost value safe and sound. Recently, Döttling has isolated one of the components of The Fortress – the cigar humidor portion – and spun it out into the brand’s first desktop humidor.
Like all Döttling safes, the amount of care and quality that goes into crafting its new cigar humidor is unparalleled, an unbroken line of quality assurance that dates back to 1919 when Döttling started as a locksmith’s shop in Sindelfingen. With four removable trays, the humidor can store up to 50 cigars, opening with ease at the simple pull of a drawer instead of the more common hinged flap lid. The interior is made of solid Spanish cedar illuminated by LED lights, while the exterior is covered in calf-skin that can be swapped or alternated with wood or high-gloss varnish. Temperature and humidity is controlled through CIGARSPA technology, integrated into the drawer that allows performance to be monitored at all time through a hygrometer, barometer and thermometer.
The Döttling Tabletop Humidor sells for €12,000 (RM56,825).
