The groove armada
As the Jamiroquai song goes, sometimes you have to go deeper underground. Imported from Singapore, where it remains the reigning party den, nightlife venue brand kyō has invaded Kuala Lumpur, establishing itself in an intoxicating space beneath the Mandarin Oriental KL.
Masterminded by Godwin Pereira and executed by Singapore’s Limited Edition Concepts (LEC), kyō stands for drama and decadence, the sort of nightlife experience that skirts the edge of propriety, occasionally tipping over. Split across two space totaling 6,000 sq feet, the subterranean experience begin with a measure of understatement at the REN cocktail lounge, before delving deep underground to the kyō main room that can accommodate up to 550 patrons in pursuit of revelry. With a web of musical talents that bleed cool, stellar hospitality and an atmosphere that provokes escapism, kyō Kuala Lumpur is the new king of the KL night scene. Long may it reign.
