Dramatic Flair
Year after year, the Dior VIII Grand Bal showcases the maison’s immense creativity with artful interpretations of the Dior Inversé concept, where the oscillating weight is placed on the dial instead of the case back. The Grand Bal Plissé Ruban (main image) plays with colours and material effects as its oscillating weight is crafted from yellow gold and has a pleated effect reminiscent of a delicate petticoat interlaced with silk ribbons. It is further decorated with diamonds and white gold inserts. The watch’s case mixes polished steel with yellow gold and more diamonds while the silver-coloured metallic leather strap exposes just a hint of the pink rubber lining underneath.
Dior’s 2017 timepiece collection also welcomes a new seasonal piece, the 2017 Spring-Summer Dior VIII Montaigne, which accurately reflects the mood of Dior creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri’s first ready-to-wear show for the high fashion house. This 32-mm timepiece comes with a silver-white opaline dial that’s hemmed with diamonds and adorned with a delicate piqué cotton pattern. A white mother-of-pearl bezel ring and a perforated white calfskin strap lined with white rubber complete this ebullient timepiece.
For La D de Dior Satine, the maison has introduced three new 36-mm models fitted with flexible and shiny Milanese mesh bracelets. Paired with large white or pink mother-of-pearl dials, these steel and steel-and-yellow gold watches come with 12 diamond indexes, diamond-set bezels and crowns.
