In 2017, Longines pays tribute to the birth of its historical Flagship collection, a series of watches that feature a caravel engraving on the back. Its dial, too, proudly bears a stylised script that proclaim this name. Celebrating the diamond jubilee of this collection, the new Longines Flagship Heritage – 60th Anniversary 1957-2017 has been released in steel, yellow gold and rose gold. As a nod to wristwatches of the 1950s, this piece comes with a 38.5-mm case that is moderate by today’s standards, but brushing oversized in those days. Incidentally, the historical Flagship had caught the eye of Kate Winslet, who is the manufacture’s Ambassador of Elegance, while the Oscar-winning actress visited the Longines headquarters in Saint-Imier. Its clean, unfettered dial is adorned by applied numerals and faceted indexes, along with sharp Dauphine-shaped hands, while slender lugs secure the case to a classic brown alligator leather strap.
