In 1958, Arne Jacobsen’s Egg and Swan chairs made their debut in the Radisson SAS hotel in Copenhagen. And the rest, as they say, is design history. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the iconic chairs, Republic of Fritz Hansen has issued special editions of the Egg and the Swan, using golden hues as a testament to the longevity and fame of the designs.
Issued in pure aniline leather, the 60th anniversary Egg (RM63,800) and Swan (RM28,900) will patina naturally over time, creating a unique character. In addition, the base of the chairs are aluminium, plated with 23 karat gold, allowing them to shine out in any setting. Also being re-issued as part of the 60th anniversary is Arne Jacobsen’s Drop chair (RM5,125) and a selection of accessories including the Kaiser idell lamp, a pouf and a Merino throw (from RM1,115), all of which conform to the requisite colour scheme of gold.
