¡Viva Mexico!
As the growth plans of Aman Resorts accelerates, announcing Aman New York just a few short months ago, the inimitable hotel brand is going back to the beach – the environment where it first staked its claim – for its next property. Specifically, a beach overlooking the Sea of Cortes in Baja California, Mexico that will be home to Amanvari in 2020.
Combining the Sanskrit words for ‘peace’ and ‘water’, Amanvari will be made up of 20 bi-level hotel pavilions, housed within a larger private beachfront resort community called Costa Palmas, developed by Los Angeles real estate firm Irongate. Architects Heah & Co have envisioned each hotel pavilion as a ‘serene island rising from the boundless terrain’ on stilts, allowing the lush flora and fauna of this unique micro-ecosystem trapped between the sea and the Sierra de la Laguna mountains to flow unimpeded. Three restaurants, a library, a lounge, a 30m infinity pool and the Aman Spa complete the complex.
On a site that once housed a hacienda where horses roamed free, Aman Resorts will also be offering a more permanent solution to those addicted to the Aman lifestyle. An initial release of 24 whole-ownership Aman Residences will be offered, ranging from four- to seven-bedroom units with 1,207 to 1,858 sq.m of space, based on a blueprint by Heah & Co, who will also provide consultation to customise the villas.
Amanvari will be situated 45-minutes away from Los Cabos International Airport, away from the throngs of Los Cabos itself and approaching the pristine East Cape, where migrant whales are regularly sighted and horses are just waiting to be bridled for an exploration of a whole new world.
