Wing Tai Asia’s Le Nouvel KLCC is a residential work of art

a museum for living

People visit museums to see a vast repository of art and culture. But what would it feel like to live in one? The answer to that is Le Nouvel KLCC.

Designed by Pritzker Architecture Prize laureate Jean Nouvel, Le Nouvel KLCC is a dual-tower residence property in the heart of KL, directly opposite the Petronas Twin Towers, with the KLCC LRT stop at its doorstep and near the future Kuala Lumpur-Singapore high-speed rail station. Nouvel – no stranger to museums, having designed the Louvre in Abu Dhabi, the Museo Reina Sofia expansion in Madrid and the upcoming National Art Museum of China in Beijing – has created not just a sumptuous property, but also a canvas for modern art in all its forms.

The building is a masterpiece in its own right. The twin towers – connected by a pool deck on Level 7 and a Sky Bridge on Level 34 – bear Nouvel’s hallmarks, a latticed exterior that is simultaneously decorative, affords privacy and allows expansive views. The scaffolding-like frontage doubles as the highest green façade in the world, a trellis for 200 species of tropical plants selected by French botanist Dr. Patrick Blanc. French lighting designer Hervé Descottes lends his expertise here, ensuring the interiors harness the optimal amount of natural light.

Inside, Japanese interior designer Koichiro Ikebuchi has imbued the 195 luxury apartments across the 43- and 49-storey towers with a sense of curated style. This is, essentially, a gallery comprised of designer objects from around the world, from beautiful white marble flooring from Greece, sleek Poggenpohl kitchens and Miele appliances from Germany to Lema wardrobes and rugs from Italy. It acts as a space for owners to create their own personal exhibitions, a collection of trophies that represent a life well lived. Museums require a human element to be complete; Le Nouvel KLCC provides the location and space, all that’s left is you.
